Nehalem Bay State Park

The Nehalem Bay State Park has been voted one of the
"Top 100 Family Campgrounds” by the Official Camping Club. The park is located at the beginning of a four-mile sand spit that separates the Pacific Ocean and Nehalem Bay.
The city of Nehalem is located on the Northern Oregon Coast and the state park is one of the many reasons to visit the Oregon Coast.
You will find the great thing about the park is that it doesn’t matter what time of year you visit there is year around family fun. You will find many ways to keep you busy. Some of the things that you can find here are hiking, biking, beachcombing, crabbing, clamming, horseback riding and fishing.
One great thing to do is take a kayak trip around Nehalem Bay or take a short walk over the sand dunes to the beach. You just can’t beat sitting on the beach and watch the sun set over the ocean in the shadow on Neah-Kah-Nie Mountain.
Afternoon or moonlit walks on the beach and down to the end of the jetty enhance the serenity of the park.
Things to do at Nehalem Bay State Park

If you love to go fishing, crabbing or clam digging then you can’t beat the bay, which is very popular.
If you really want to get a breathtaking view of the bay then you will enjoy the 1.75-mile bike trail that circles the park airplane landing strip. You are likely to see deer grazing, a herd of elk, or a coyote crossing the road. If you like birding watching then you are in for a treat. The park is graced with a variety of birds.
There is a place where you can rent bicycles and if you are really adventurous you can rent horses nearby. Northwest Equine Outfitters operates a horse concession from the day-use area in the park in the summer.
If you get tired of cooking on the campfire there is some fine dining nearby. There are also local boutiques in Nehalem and Manzanita and you aren't very far from Tillamook where you can visit the cheese factory (they have great ice cream cones!).
This is the only Oregon state park with a landing strip and camping area for aircraft and passengers. The sites are first-come, first-served and offer primitive facilities.
